Award for Research Skills MOOC

We are proud to announce that our MWCC Research Skills MOOC is a Massachusetts Colleges Online  2016 COURSE OF DISTINCTION AWARD winner. The award was presented to librarians Ellen Pratt and Suzanne Levasseur at the MCO annual conference on June 2. Dr. Carlos Santiago, Massachusetts Commissioner of Higher Education, posed for a photo with the happy librarians. If you are wondering what is in the silver boxes with the blue ribbons, it is a gurgling cod pitcher from Shreve, Crump & Low, pictured below. Why a cod? It's a Course Of Distinction, of course.

Libraries Contribute to Student Success

Sixty different projects from a variety of academic institutions across North America show strong evidence of the positive contributions of academic libraries to student learning and success in four key areas:

  1. Students benefit from library instruction in their initial coursework.
  2. Library use increases student success.
  3. Collaborative academic programs and services involving the library enhance student learning.
  4. Information literacy instruction strengthens general education outcomes.

Library Exhibit Cases Available for YOU

Have you seen the two exhibit cases outside of the library? We are seeking faculty, staff and students who are interested in creating displays for those cases. The cases are a great way to capture an audience for your programs, courses, initiatives, projects, groups and/or ideas. If you are interested in creating a display, please visit the Circulation Desk and ask for the exhibit case proposal form to complete the process.
