NAXOS Music LibraryWhat is NML?

Naxos Music Library [NML] is an online streaming music database offering more than one million tracks of classical, jazz, world music, classic pop and rock music, plus Chinese orchestral music. NML can be accessed from any computer, anywhere, anytime. With the new APP for iPhone, iPod Touch, or  Android, you can also access the service on the go.

How do I use NML?

It's easy. Just type keywords to search for music (e.g. Bach cello suites Casals), click the box to the left of the piece to select it. Then you can choose PLAY SELECTIONS from the left menu, and also ADD TO PLAYLIST from the same menu.

How does the APP work?

  1. Visit the NAXOS Music Library database. If you are not on campus, you will login as you would to any database, using your library barcode number and your last name in all capital letters.
  2. Select PLAYLISTS from the bar across the top of the page. You will then be at a page titled STUDENT/MEMBER PLAYLISTS. Then select SIGN UP at the top right. (See video tutorial on the left.)
  3. Complete the brief form, choosing a password you will remember. Your login for the app will be your email address and the password you have chosen.
  4. Now, create a playlist on your computer before you download the app.
  5. Time to download the app, which you can use not just for your playlists, but to search and browse the full NML anytime and anywhere.
  6. After you download the app, you must respond to an email from NAXOS to activate your account.

For questions or problems, contact librarian Suzanne Levasseur. MWCC has a subscription to Naxos Music Library for three simultaneous users. If there are already three people using NML, you may get the message, "The maximum number of users authorized by your institution has been reached. Please try again later." If this happens, please let us know. If there is enough usage, we will consider increasing our subscription limit. Thank you!
